About Rehab 23

Rehab 23 is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing support to Wilson County First Responders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.  We operate out of the Mount Juliet City Building on Clemmons Road in Mount Juliet with two vehicles: a converted ambulance and a support mini-van.  We respond to calls from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency (WEMA) dispatch in Lebanon and to direct calls from other First Responder organizations.  Rehab 23 provides a place to rest in our vehicle or under cover with chairs along with water, sports drinks, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks or meals as needed.  The ambulance is also used by the EMTs for firefighter evaluation to avoid injury, dehydration, or hypothermia. This allows the on-scene ambulance to remain available to respond to emergency calls.

Created in the summer of 2013, Rehab 23 was established to support firefighters under very stressful conditions.  Firefighting has the greatest short surge physiologic demands of any profession.  Considering only 10% of a firefighter's time is spent on the fireground, 50% of firefighter deaths and 66% of injuries occur on scene.  A typical firefighter may carry 60 to over 100 lbs. of equipment into a structure fire with temperatures going to upwards of 500 degrees in a fully engaged structure fire.  Firefighters require constant monitoring to avoid injury and to ensure proper rest and rehydration.

Law Enforcement often remains on the scene of events for hours at a time, generally without support for refreshment and rest.  Rehab 23 provides support, whether they are on the scene of a major traffic accident or other emergency event.

Rehab 23 is a designated 501(c)(3) organization and depends on volunteers and donations to continue providing this very important support.
